Today’s Tip: “THE WORLD IS YOUR GYM” – Clean House and Shape Up!

OK, let’s put a BOUNCE IN OUR STEP.  Get excited!  Just motivating your day with energy and enthusiasm will start you on your fitness path.

Do you have chores around the house?  Let’s try lunges and squats in between picking up those toys.  How about a dirty kitchen?  Let’s see how quickly we can clean up that mess.  Let’s do some calf raises while folding laundry.  We can play with the kids outside, like doing some jumping jacks.  How about walking your kids to school and jogging or speed walking back home listening to some of your favorite tunes?  Do you have stairs?  Climb them.  What about while watching some evening T.V.? Try stretching, or doing some couch sitting squats.  Turn your regular day into a fitness day.

Too many people, especially women, try and control their weight (size) by under eating.  This NEVER works. You may have a skinny body, but it will be an unhealthy one that is not capable of sustaining vital activity or longevity.  Eat your small portioned breakfast, divide your lunch into two small portions, and separate them by 3 hours. Eat your carb free dinner, and have 2 protein small snacks in the day.  This totals 6 times during the day you should be consuming food.  It works. Keep the portions down, but eat them often.

Nuts About (or in) Your Car

Car rides can often times be boring, when we get bored we usually gravitate towards the action of eating. There is nothing nutty about always keeping a bag of raw Almonds in your car. Almonds are a great source and combination of fat and protein that are much lower in calories than many other nuts and healthier than most foods we grab to satisfy hunger cravings.

 

Your stomach and your abs will thank you for those nuts.

 

Practice good posture in & out of the gym with these alignment tips.

Give yourself a standing ovation!

Good Posture – slumped shoulders and lethargic movements often times are signs of low self confidence.  Practice good posture in and out of the gym and you will feel more confident. Good posture and holding your body in perfect alignment during your workout will help protect your joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles. Generally speaking this posture can be followed as such:
-Stand shoulder width apart
-Feet parallel
-Knees slightly bent
-Slightly tucked pelvis
-Chest elevated (tits up)
-Shoulders gently pressed down away from the ears and drawn back behind you.
-Good punching wrist position.
-Jaw slightly opened

HOW TO CHOP YOUR CHOPS!

Most guys  have serious issues trimming their sideburns correctly. It is the difference between looking well-groomed and looking well…ridiculous . This is how to make them complement your face shape and cut.  Women help your guy out , I can’t be the only person noticing and bothered by this!!

SHORT- Stubbs that stop at the top of the ear..try these with a flattop or if you are 12.  Leave them their natural width but trim them frequently with an electric razor so they don’t get bushy. And if you have a big round face ( or have gone through puberty)  don’t go short or your face will only look rounder.

MEDIUM- Mid-length sideburns should be cropped right above the cartilage in the middle of your ear. I like to pair these burns with a basic short, tight back and sides cut.These don’t need as much attention as their pre pubescent counterpart. These look great with a little scruff and if your face is oval this is your burn. Anything longer and you might look like Mr. Ed.

LONG- If you have the look and the face to wear these fab chops (my fave) make sure they are done right. A great tip to use when shaping this burn is to mimic the cut of your jeans! Im a bootcut boy and flare slightly at the bottoms. Just don’t dip below the hollows of your cheeks. If you’re going retro then you can  let them grow past the bottom of your ear. Guys with square faces and a hairstyle with height on top ( pompadour, faux hawk) this mutton is a must.

GETTING EVEN- Most guys make the mistake of using their earlobes as a guide, but they’re not always at the same height! Instead, place your index fingers at the bottoms of your sideburns and imagine a line running between them across your face. Groom them every few days using a trimmer with a guard.

PAWFECTION

Grimy grippers are just plain gross. Clean, white nails are attractive no matter what gender you are! This tip will whiten and buff those pincers. Men, try adding this to your regimen when you cut your nails (hands AND feet!). This will also remove any yellow discoloration caused by nail polish ladies.  Gently scrub them with toothpaste and a recycled, soft toothbrush or buffer. Gentle men, don’t overdue it. Do not use gel, use paste!  Now add a few drops of lemon juice and your clutches will come alive, instead of  looking dead as  door NAILS!
