QUOTE ME SAYING I WAS MISQUOTED.

Just saying…

I’m very thankful to have weekly opportunities to reach people with wellness and fitness advice through media/press.  Every so often I’m placed in a position to clarify what’s written.  In this article it’s mentioned

Joggers, for instance, should sign up for some spinning classes; if yoga’s your thing, switch it up for pilates or weight-lifting sessions with a trainer.

This is NOT advice or a quote from me.  Professionally speaking, a jogger typically obtains more benefits then just burning calories and staying trim from their jogging. They utilize that time to mentally and emotionally process (mind workout) and balance themselves chemically.  A jogger needing to mix their programs up should perform exercise options that will not interfere physically with their first love of jogging.  I suggest treadmill incline walking, 30 second interval stairclimber walks (meaning 30 seconds at a slow level 2-5, and 30 seconds at a higher level of 7 or higher), or any fitness class that utilizes their own body weight as the resistance. I would also suggest if a jogger is switching their exercise program away from jogging they should still fulfill the mind workout benefits with a meditation practice such as Emily Fletchers, Ziva Meditation.  A Jogger switching to spinning classes could find the range of movement and aggressive intervals too impacting on their joints and muscles. Sprinters could benefit from spinning (Soul Cycle).

Also mentioned in the article “if yoga’s your thing, switch it up for pilates or weight-lifting sessions with a trainer”. I disagree, someone who takes yoga regularly looking to mix it up, should invest in a resistance training program using resistance bands or dyna-bands, even something like my Ultimate Perfect Workout DVD. This will be a non-invasive exercise program that will aid in building strength and stamina. A Weight-Lifting program could put strain on a yoga persons connective tissue, tendons and muscles.  Gradually they could progress to that type of training if they so desire  but I rarely come across a yoga enthusiast that wants to workout at Venice Golds Gym.

I invest time, energy and information with such articles so that readers will understand this is just the beginning of the discussion.  Most publications and writers are courteous enough to provide my website link or twitter so readers can reach out with specific questions or outreach to me directly with private wellness matters.  It’s my goal to continuously make myself available online and through my private skype consultations via www.craigramsayfitness.com  .

SUPPORT LITERALLY CAN COME FROM ACROSS THE PLANET!

17 Apr

You never know how far across the world your personal health and wellness journey might travel to get to you.

While on my Crystal Symphony Cruise throughout Asia, I had a port stop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  I just so happen to have family there! Brandon got to meet my cousin Mei Yi Lo and her husband Ghee Keong and their son Ian Eng.  Seeing them was definitely a trip highlight. I was very moved that they insisted on taping a message of encouragement for Jenni.

Unfortunately this footage won’t be aired on the Ricki Lake Bridal Bootcamp Reveal Episode May 21st.  I wanted to make sure Jenni and all of you witness the “ripple effect” your vulnerability in sharing your story can have.  Support literally can come from across this planet!

“If the elevator of success is out, use the stairs, one step at a time.” John Reyes quotes

15 Apr

With my “Ricki Lake Bride” Jenni, having a pre-existing wrist injury, I wanted to provide her appropriate fitness programming options that she can do anywhere and everywhere.  STAIRS are such an important part of her change of lifestyle, she climbed stairs whenever and wherever possible.  For her at home workout I combined stairs and a dumbbell weight resistance routine.

I was a guest lecturer onboard  the Crystal Cruise’s Symphony on their “mind, body and spirit” themed cruise. We had a port day in Semarang Indonesian. I took a 3 hour ride into the mountains where I visited the Buddhist temple/pyramid, Borobudur, and climbed some serious stairs. I burned some calories and felt good that I got my sweat on.  I sent Jenni this video and now share it with you so show how there is no rest, not even on vacation. Use every opportunity the universe provides you to be physically active.  When you approach life like this – you will be living a healthy and fit life!

Benefits of Stairs:

-they are free

-the more weight we are carrying on our body, the harder wer’re forced to work and therefore the more calories that are burned.

-increases heart rate improving your cardiovascular fitness.

-helps shape and strengthen some common problem areas, thighs, buttocks and core (stomach)

-very time efficient workout.  cardio + muscle fatigue resistance training.

-it can be done almost anywhere.

-builds bone strength.

-When preformed correctly climbing stairs are a low impact/safe on the knees.

-Stairs are great to perform at any fitness level.

-Climbing stairs can be combined with dumbbells, dyna bands, jumping jacks, ect. the fitness programming is endless.

My Ricki Lake Bride Jenni not only has the “at home” responsibilities with having a newborn but also juggles “JOBS”(plural).  Therefore having workout options that she can perform at home are going to be her lifesaver.  Here is one of the “at home” workout fitness programming options I gave her right from the beginning. Make sure you watch yesterday’s “technique” video prior to today’s.  A reminder that this program was designed specifically for Jenni.  You should consult with your Doctor before starting any workout program.

May 21st is the air date of my reveal of the Ricki Lake Show “Bridal Bootcamp” Weight loss/health gain challenge.  Where my Bride “Jenni” will share her successes.  I want you to have the info on how she did it.  Having the tools, the workout program, nutritional info, and motivational support are all ingredients for a recipe of success!

I am going to be posting all the correspondence between Jenni & I.  Please note that these programs are designed around her relationship to food, her workout restrictions (wrist injury from baby lifting), and what I professionally and personally felt would provide her a lifetime of success.

That said you can benefit from this information, apply it responsibly, and remember, I’m available to create your own personalized programs via skype consultations.  Visit my website http://www.craigramsayfitness.com

fit and fabulous on Derek and Romaine

Listen here to listen!….. CRSiriusXM

Being back home for more than 2 counts of quick 8′s we finally invested in Sirius Satelite.  WE ARE HOOKED! The hours of enjoyment spent in the car with our travels and in L.A traffic are now filled OUTQ, BROADWAY AND the 80′s station.  Needless to say we have been listening to the Derek & Romaine show and we have accumulated some important questions and clarifications on things we have heard recently.  So you can imagine how thrilled we were to be asked to join them last night at their live broadcast at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.  We get answers to:

-Why the hell have they not been a team on Amazing Race yet?

-Did Romaine really throw a tantrum and a protest sit while ziplining on their cruise last month?

-Can we borrow Romaine’s bike for the Aids Lifecycle?  As ours were stolen! LOL

-Who would Romaine and Derek choose as a partner for the amazing race if we had to split up the teams? Craig or Brandon?

These answers and more. Click and listen, share and comment, and if you don’t have Sirius Satelite yet, what the hell are you waiting for?
