Tips for Weight Lifting from Coach Craig Ramsay

Powerlifters tend to use aided equipment, such as lifting belts and lifting wrist straps, to reduce the chance of bodily injury. They are lifting heavier than normal weight.  In fact, the use of a weight belt can actually weaken the core muscles.

Use of a weight belt and wrist straps should be done with care, and with the understanding that it is used to aid in heavy lifting. Wrist straps aid your grip allowing you to hold onto heavier weight without it slipping out of your hands.

Wrist wraps and knee wraps are usually wore by individuals that have suffered an injury. They are in need of the added support these wraps will give them. Consult a doctor for any such recommendations.

    That’s some sound advice your giving.

    Wrist wraps and support belts do have their place in the fitness world. It’s best to figure out which one works best for you.
